Assets of Turkiye's banking sector increase by 56%

As of January 1, 2023, the assets of Turkiye's banking sector amounted to 14,344.4 billion Turkish liras ($763.1 billion), the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency of the country said, Report informs, citing the Turkish press.
According to the document, this is 5,128.9 billion liras ($272.9 billion) or 55.7% more than on January 1, 2022.
As at the end of 2022, the main parts of the sector's assets were loans to customers (7,580.7 billion liras or $4,033 billion) and investments in securities (2,370 billion liras or $1,261 billion), 54.7% and 60.5% more than the end of 2021, respectively.
Last year, the sector made a net profit of 433.5 billion liras ($23.1 billion).
