ADB wants to support economic development in Azerbaijan

Baku. 15 November. REPORT.AZ/ “Main objective of my visit to Azerbaijan is to mark 50th anniversary of Asian Development Bank (ADB). Report informs, ADB vice president Wencai Zhang told reporters.

According to him, the international financial institution represented by him may render its support for economic development in Azerbaijan: “I am here to discuss what kind of support we can render. I had fruitful meetings with number of officials. This is my third trip to Azerbaijan. We discussed latest economic developments and tried to agree on cooperation plan for next 3 years”.

W. Zhang told that ADB allocated up to $2.8 billion loans and grants to Azerbaijan until this day. “Our institution negotiates conduction of structural reforms in Azerbaijan and provision of technical support. Besides traditional fields of economy, we can cooperate in new fields as well”.

ADB official pledged support to “Shahdeniz” project: “At present we are waiting for decision of Board of Directors related “Shahdeniz” project. At the same time, we can render support on macro level for political reforms during next 3 years”.
