SOCAR president meets with founder of Fortescue Metals Group

President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovshan Najaf has met with Chairman and Founder of Fortescue Metals Group Andrew Forrest, Report informs referring to SOCAR.

At the meeting, Forrest spoke about the activities and achievements of Fortescue Future Industries (FFI), a subsidiary of Fortescue Metals Group, in the field of renewable energy, green hydrogen, ammonia and synthetic methane. According to Forrest, the company is interested in working in Azerbaijan.

Najaf spoke in detail about SOCAR's goals in the field of decarbonization and renewable energy and about the steps being taken.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the decarbonization of current oil and gas and petrochemical operations, the use of SOCAR facilities and infrastructure by FFI in order to expand activities in the field of green energy in Azerbaijan, as well as the possibility of cooperation in other areas.
