SOCAR, BP mull shipping ACE platform

President of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) Rovnag Abdullayev has received BP Vice President for Production and Operations Gordon Birrell, Report informs referring to SOCAR.

Various aspects of the partnership between SOCAR and BP were discussed at the meeting. An exchange of views took place on the progress of exploration drilling in the shallow part of the Absheron Peninsula, as well as on the further increase in gas production in Azerbaijan from various sources, its importance in meeting the growing demand of the local and global gas market.

Abdullayev stressed that ensuring Azerbaijan’s energy security is a priority for the state and the company. The parties noted that production and operational work on the ACG project continues and that the support block of the ACE platform will be shipped for installation in the coming months.

The guests were informed about the new technological solutions used by SOCAR in order to improve the technical characteristics of offshore platforms, the service life of which has expired. It was noted that SOCAR, in accordance with the new strategy, is studying the possibility of ensuring energy supply to the company’s offshore oil and gas infrastructure from renewable sources in the future.
