SOCAR begins large-scale restoration of gas infrastructure in Azerbaijan’s liberated lands

It is planned to gradually reconstruct the main gas pipelines in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, Sarkhan Babashov, First Deputy Head of the Gas Export Department of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), said at the meeting of the Working Group on Energy Supply Issues.

Report quotes Babashov as saying that, for this purpose, SOCAR has started implementing infrastructure projects mainly in four directions:

"Construction of the Horadiz-Lachin main gas pipeline and gas distribution stations (GDS) on its branches is planned. Within this framework, Jabrayil, Minchivan, Gubadli, and Lachin GDSs will be constructed."

He stated that the construction of the Boyuk Bahmanli-Shusha main gas pipeline and its branch Gayali (Hadrut) gas pipeline will be carried out: "At the same time, the construction of appropriate distribution stations on these pipelines is envisaged," Babashov said.

The official further noted that the construction of the Azadgaragoyunlu-Aghdam main gas pipeline and Aghdam GDS on it is also planned.

"In addition, the reconstruction of the 33+46 km section of the Yevlakh-Nakhchivan main gas pipeline is included in the project. The Aghdam-Kalbajar main gas pipeline will be laid, and the construction of the Kalbajar GDS will be carried out in this regard."

Babashov believes that these SOCAR projects are of great importance in terms of gasification of settlements in the region and restoration of infrastructure.
