The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed between Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Slovakia, and Azerbaijan is an important step towards achieving European energy security, Bulgarian Energy Minister Rossen Hristov said at the signing ceremony of the MoU for encouraging cooperation between Bulgartransgaz (Bulgaria), Transgaz (Romania), FGSZ (Hungary), Eustream (Slovakia) and the State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) held in Sofia, Report informs.
Hristov emphasized that Bulgaria is one of the initiators of the Solidarity Ring (STRING) project, which aims to improve the security of natural gas supplies to the European Union (EU), Central and South-Eastern Europe:
"Now the regional countries can achieve their goals in this field. We are working together on opportunities for other countries of the region to join this initiative."
