Permanent rep of Turkmenistan: Growing energy needs of SPECA countries can be met

The growing energy needs of countries included in the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA) can be met, the permanent representative of Turkmenistan at the UN Geneva office, Ambassador Atageldy Khalzhanov said at the SPECA-2023 economic forum in Baku, Report informs.

Saying that one of the important areas of regional cooperation is energy, the ambassador noted that the inclusion of new regions and markets in the international energy system will give a big boost to industrial production in the world.

He noted that sustainable energy is beginning to play an increasingly important role in the global development of the modern world.

“Political instability in certain regions of the planet, the lack of international legal mechanisms and imperfect energy infrastructure have led to the fact that today international energy supply has actually become one of the weakest links in the world economy,” Khalzhanov said.

He added that the priority task facing the region is to establish effective cooperation.

“That’s because in this case, the growing energy needs of the SPECA countries can be met. Today, energy has actually become an important factor in the analysis of economic security. In this sense, ensuring energy security is necessary for all areas of our economy to be stable and functional,” he added.
