Operation of SOCAR's STAR Refinery in Türkiye to be temporarily suspended next year

The planned shutdown of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) STAR Refinery in Türkiye next year have several goals, Head of SOCAR Türkiye Refinery and Petrochemical Business Unit and Director General of Petkim Petrokimya Holding, Anar Mammadov, said at the press conference held today, Report informs.

According to him, the oil refinery will be stopped for the first time after its commissioning, and it is primarily intended to carry out planned preventive works: "Another goal is to reduce the frequency of planned maintenance work at the plant. As a result of additional measures, the refinery will be stopped for preventive work in every five years, while this period was 4 years."

Mammadov also added that suspension of the enterprise for the purpose of planned preventive work for approximately two months - 45-60 days means losses for the company: "Reducing frequency will have a positive financial impact. So, this means saving around $40 million."
