The Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline transported 224.142 million barrels of oil in 2024, Report informs, citing the Turkish company BOTAŞ. This figure represents a decrease of 4.669 million barrels, or 2%, compared to the previous year.
According to Report, despite the annual decline, December 2024 saw a slight uptick in oil transportation through the Turkish section of the BTC pipeline, with 20.081 million barrels of oil being transported—an increase of 0.642 million barrels, or 3.3%, compared to December 2023.
The BTC pipeline is a vital artery for the transportation of Azerbaijani oil, particularly from the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli complex and the Shah Deniz gas condensate field.
In addition to Azerbaijani oil, the pipeline also transports Turkmen and Kazakh oil to global markets.
