Oil pumping via BTC up 14% YoY in 2022

In 2022, operating expenses for the main export oil pipeline Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) amounted to $110 million, and capital expenditures reached $27 million, Report informs with reference to a joint report of BP-Azerbaijan with partners.

Last year, the volume of BTC operating expenses decreased by $19 million, or 16%, while capital expenditures dropped by $7 million, or 20.6%.

According to the report, from the commissioning of the 1,768 km BTC pipeline in June 2006 until the end of 2022, a total of more than 531 million tons (3.99 billion barrels) of crude oil were pumped through this pipeline, which was loaded on 5,244 tankers in Ceyhan and shipped to various markets. And on January 18, BTC recorded the export of the 4-billionth barrel of oil.

In 2022, about 30 million tons (about 224 million barrels) of crude oil and condensate exported via BTC were loaded onto 305 tankers at the Ceyhan terminal. Over the past year, the pumping through BTC amounted to 3.6 million tons, 13.6% more than a year ago.
