Baku hosted an international event themed “Shaping the path of the industry to net zero and implementing the ambitions of OGDC” with the support of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and the organization of the Oil and Gas Decarbonization Charter (OGDC), Report informs.
At the event, detailed information was first given about OGDC, the development of the organization, future goals, as well as the possibilities of expanding the scope were discussed.
The impact of OGDC's initiatives on the decarbonization activity of oil and gas companies on a global scale, and the strides made by the charter members in reducing emissions were reported, and opinions were exchanged on the topic.
During the discussions, achieving net zero by supporting the decarbonization activity of the oil and gas operations of the member organizations until 2050 was mentioned as the main goal of OGDC.
Speaking at the panel session, SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf informed about the company's decarbonization goals, energy transition, and sustainable development activity, projects implemented and planned to be implemented in the emission reduction.
Najaf noted that holding the OGDC event in Baku with the support of SOCAR on the eve of COP29 is an indicator of the company's initiative, the fight against climate change, and a sensitive approach to global challenges in this field.
At the event, gratitude was expressed for the attention paid to the activity of OGDC. It was emphasized that such events will make important contributions to the implementation of the charter, as well as play an important role in strengthening cooperation.
