Natural gas sales in Azerbaijan’s domestic market up 15%

Of 14.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas sold by the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) last year, 13.1 billion cubic meters, and 282,100 tons of 282,500 tons of liquefied gas were sold in the domestic market, according to the Cabinet of Ministers’ report on its activities in 2021, Report informs.

According to the report, 3.9 billion cubic meters of natural gas were supplied to consumers.

Sales in the domestic market increased by 15% compared to the previous year, and 1.155 billion cubic meters of gas were exported. Revenues from gas sold in the country amounted to 1.342 billion manats, while revenues from exported gas stood at 292.8 million manats. According to the demand, the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic was supplied with 281.8 million cubic meters of natural gas.

Also, in order to reduce gas losses in 2021, the network was reconstructed, gas lines were overhauled, expired meters were replaced with new ones, losses amounted to 3.6%.

Some 340 km of pipelines of different diameters were laid, 423 km of gas pipelines were overhauled to reconstruct, expand and improve the gas supply system.
