Mikayil Jabbarov: SOCAR plans to expand its operations in Middle East

SOCAR plans to expand its activities in the Middle East in the future, Azerbaijan's Economy Minister Mikayil Jabbarov told journalists following the opening ceremony of the Türkiye-Syria gas pipeline, Report informs.

Jabbarov mentioned that it is premature to specify which countries will receive Azerbaijani gas exports in the future. However, he highlighted that the demand for Azerbaijani gas in the Eastern market, as well as the ability to deliver it competitively, have already been confirmed through the current gas export project to Syria.

"I can note that both the demand for Azerbaijani gas in the Eastern market and in this geography as a whole, as well as the possibilities of delivering our gas to this market on competitive terms, have already been confirmed with this project. Taking into account the characteristics of the agreement reached, I express my gratitude to our Turkish colleagues. Because they have created favorable conditions for the transit of gas. In this regard, SOCAR is planning to expand its activities in the region," Jabbarov said.

The minister also clarified that the gas exported to Syria is directly managed and sold by SOCAR, emphasizing, "This is not gas belonging to foreign consortiums. The supply is carried out by SOCAR, that is, the state company."
