The Malibayli and Mirik hydroelectric power plants located in the Lachin district of Azerbaijan will generate 20 million kWh of green energy per year, Ramiz Valiyev, the director of ES Yaşıl Enerji LLC, told Report during a media tour.
According to Valiyev, the HPPs are integrated into the country's centralized SCADA system.
Valiyev noted that the Ashagi Malibayli HPP with a capacity of 3.1 MW and Mirik HPP with a capacity of 3.5 MW were built on the section of the Zabukh River, the right tributary of the Khakari River, passing through the villages of Malibayli and Mirik in the Lachin district, and are equipped with advanced equipment, and optical cable lines have been laid. Modern equipment at the new stations will create conditions for saving 4.3 million cubic meters of natural gas and preventing the emission of 8,000 tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere per year.
The director noted that the number of hydroelectric power plants in the region has been brought to 38 (32 in operation, 6 ready for operation), and their capacity - up to 307 MW.
"Due to the green energy generated at the created HPPs, up to 200 million cubic meters of natural gas are saved annually, and the emission of up to 400 thousand tons of carbon dioxide into the atmosphere is prevented," he said.
