Kazakhstan increases oil exports to Germany

In April, Kazakhstan shipped 50,000 tons of oil to Germany via Transneft’s main oil pipeline system against 20,000 tons in March, Report informs referring to the press service of the Kazakh national company KazTransOil.

“The volume of transportation of Kazakh oil through the system of main oil pipelines of Transneft PJSC in the direction of the Adamova Zastava oil delivery point for further delivery to Germany in April increased by 30,000 tons (150%) compared to March, amounting to 50,000 tons,” the message says.

Thus, in February-April 2023, KazTransOil JSC delivered 90,000 tons of Kazakh oil to Germany.

“KazTransOil JSC confirms the availability of technical feasibility for transporting 1.2 million tons of Kazakh oil in the direction of the Adamova Zastava oil delivery point for further delivery to Germany, but the actual volumes of oil transportation depend on the applications of oil companies,” reads the press release.

At the end of December 2022, Transneft reported that it had received an application from KazTransOil for a reserve of additional capacities of the Druzhba oil pipeline for transit to Germany in the amount of 1.2 million tons for 2023.

The German government announced in September 2022 that it would negotiate with Kazakhstan on the purchase of oil with transportation through the Druzhba pipeline to provide additional volumes for the refinery in the city of Schwedt and replace oil from Russia. Kazakhstan uses transit through the Druzhba point, sending about 10 million tons of oil per year towards the port in Ust-Luga.
