Iran will swap electricity with Azerbaijan and Russia, Iranian Energy Minister Ali Akbar Mehrabian said at the opening ceremony of the 22nd International Exhibition of the Electrical Industry of Iran, Report informs via the Iranian press.
According to him, when Iran needs electricity, it imports it from Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan: "When there is a surplus of electricity, it is exported to other countries. Naturally, we will continue to fulfill previous electricity contracts."
Regarding energy consumption in Iran, the minister said that the country's energy industry is in good condition: "About 95% of spare parts and equipment in this industry are domestically produced."
The minister also noted that the synchronization of energy systems between Iran and Russia had been completed. He added that Russia and Azerbaijan are also carrying out technical measures to synchronize with the Iranian energy system.
