The Black Sea Energy project is so famous that Central Asian countries have already expressed their sincere interest to make the same cable under the Caspian Sea to join this cable system to Europe, expert on economy, senior researcher at the Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Professor Vasa László told Report.
The expert noted that this project is part of the energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Hungary.
"The energy cooperation between Azerbaijan and Hungary has a long tradition. I have to say that Hungary started this cooperation already before the Western European partners woke up and started to knock on the door of Azerbaijan," Vasa said.
He also spoke about main spheres of cooperation between Azerbaijan and Hungary, saying one of them is the supply of Azerbaijani gas through the TurkStream pipeline.
The expert noted that Azerbaijan is doing everything possible to increase the capacity of its pipeline systems.
Another area of cooperation is the well-known Black Sea Energy project, which will deliver green energy via a subsea cable across the Black Sea. Georgia, Romania, and Hungary are also involved in this project, László said.
According to the expert, the main goal of the project is to supply green electricity produced in Azerbaijan to Eastern Europe. He noted that, in his view, this is much more than just the export of energy and capacity. Since energy production requires investments in the construction of solar parks, wind farms, and hydroelectric power stations, he explained that this would lead to significant investment in Azerbaijan's national economy. He also emphasized that the exported energy would carry much higher added value.
