Georgia’s crude and petroleum oil imports from Azerbaijan skyrocket

Georgia imported 16,933 tons of crude oil and petroleum-based oil, valued at $14 million from Azerbaijan in January-February of 2024, Report informs.

Data from the National Statistics Office of Georgia shows that this is 7 times more than the indicator of the same period of 2023 in value, and 10 times more in volume.

Azerbaijan ranks 4th among the countries that export crude oil and petroleum oil to Georgia.

During the reporting period, Georgia bought a total of 225,000 tons of crude oil and petroleum oil worth $187 million from abroad, which is 15 percent and 18 percent more than a year ago, respectively.

Thus, Georgia supplied 121,000 tons of products worth $90.1 million from Russia, 34,000 tons worth $27.7 million from Romania, 20,144 tons worth $17 million from Bulgaria, 11 tons worth $11.5 million from Greece.

Meanwhile, in 2023, Georgia imported 1.418 million tons of crude oil and petroleum oil worth $1.17 billion from abroad, of which 112,388 tons worth $95.444 million came from Azerbaijan.
