Gas transit through Ukraine to remain twice as low as Gazprom’s obligations

Transit of Russian gas through the Ukrainian gas transmission system on April 18 is expected to remain half of Gazprom’s contractual obligations, according to the GTS Operator of Ukraine, Report informs referring to RIA Novosti.

So, applications for pumping gas through the Sudzha and Sokhranovka stations from Russia as of April 18 amount to only 56.88 million cubic meters - at the level of April 17 (56.5 million). This is almost two times lower than the maximum obligations of Gazprom to Ukraine under the transit contract, which amount to about 109.6 million cubic meters per day (40 billion cubic meters per year).

The Ukrainian transit of Russian gas has been at the maximum of contractual obligations since the end of February, fueled by political risks and cold weather. It slightly decreased only a couple of days in mid-March. However, since April 8, it has decreased again, which could be affected by warming in Europe.
