The Interconnector Greece – Bulgaria (IGB), which will deliver Azerbaijani natural gas to Bulgaria, will be physically completed at the end of June, and the first gas transportation via the pipeline will start in July, ICGB's Executive Officer Teodora Georgieva, Report informs, citing Bulgarian media.
According to her, everything possible is being done to be ready for the heating season, no later than October: "We are already on the final straight, there is serious support for the completion of the Interconnector, which will connect with Greece. The benefits of Bulgaria's Interconnector with Greece are not small - 1 billion cubic meters of gas from Azerbaijan. Other traders may enter the Bulgarian market, but the potential will be serious, after the terminal in Alexandroupolis is built."
Georgieva reminded that the hydro-technical tests of the Interconnector with Greece have been completed: "Hydro-tests of all 8 crane units of the gas pipeline have been successfully completed."
Georgieva hopes to have political support in the implementation of the Interconnector with Greece: "Construction is currently underway - 92% of the Construction of the IGB's Komotini-Stara Zagora line is ready. The works are being completed both in Bulgaria and Greece. The linear part of the gas pipeline is ready in both territories. Hydro tests of the entire linear part have been carried out."
