Equinor considers co-op with Azerbaijan in renewables

The Norwegian energy giant Equinor will be attending the closing event of the Baku Energy forum in Shusha on June 4, Stig Atland, Azerbaijan country manager of Equinor, said at the Baku Energy Week, Report informs.

The trip has been organized jointly with SOCAR and the Azerbaijani authorities in order to discuss a path to net-zero and look at the renewable potential of not only the liberated territories but the whole country.

“We need to collaborate both with SOCAR, authorities, and other investors to find the most suitable projects,” Stig Atland said, adding that if these projects fit all business plans, the company will evaluate them.

He added that in addition to traditional business – oil and gas, the company is also sharing its best practices with stakeholders in Azerbaijan on renewable energy, carbon capture and technology.
