The Ministry of Energy and the European Bank for Reconstruction and development (EBRD) are planning to sign a MoU on technical support for the development of the energy sector, Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov wrote on Twitter, Report informs.
"We had fruitful discussions with Odile Renaud on the financial support for the expansion of the SGC and the priorities for our multifaceted cooperation on Green Energy," the minister tweeted.
The EBRD President, Odile Renaud-Basso, will be on a visit to the Caucasus until September 16. She will first visit Azerbaijan, then Georgia and Armenia. This is her first visit to the Caucasus since she took office in late 2020. The visit, which had to be paid in 2021, was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The EBRD president held virtual meetings with various civil society representatives from Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Armenia before starting the visit to the region.
"I am looking forward to visiting the Caucasus, where the Bank has achieved commendable results during its 30 years of operation. Despite its size, the region remains an important investment location for us, and we have already invested more than 10 billion euros in the region. During my visit, I will reiterate our full support for the Caucasus and its green transition program, as well as improving transport connectivity, sustainable infrastructure, and political dialogue. I will also have meetings with our partner financial institutions to discuss further support for the private sector, including small and medium enterprises," she said.
