Construction of pipeline transporting Azerbaijani gas to Serbia to be completed in October

Bulgaria will complete the construction of the pipeline that will transport Azerbaijani natural gas to Serbia in October, Executive Director of Bulgartransgaz, Vladimir Malinov, said, Report informs, referring to the Bulgarian press.

According to him, the pipeline construction, which started yesterday, will be fully operational by the end of this year: “Bulgaria can obtain additional supplies for its own needs by reversing flows from the Baumgarten hub in Central Europe.”

Serbia aims to replace its almost total dependence on Gazprom fuel with at least 40% gas from Azerbaijan and other sources. The national gas company Srbijagas, which currently imports Russian gas through the Balkan branch of the TurkStream gas pipeline, started construction of its part of the new pipeline a year ago.
