Construction of Azerbaijan's largest power plant nears completion

The construction of a new 1,280 MW power plant in Mingachevir, located within the Azerbaijan thermal power plant area, is nearing completion, Report informs, citing Azerenergy.

This project is one of the largest in recent years. Although the station was initially slated for commissioning by the end of 2025, progress has been ahead of schedule. Three of the four turbines and generators have already been connected and tested, with the final unit expected to be launched soon.

This will be the largest power plant built in Azerbaijan since its independence. Additionally, it will be the most energy-efficient among all thermal power plants in the country, using the least amount of gas to produce 1 kWh of electricity. The equipment for the station was supplied by Italy's Ansaldo Energia and China's Dongfang.

Azerenergy specialists have undergone training in Italy and China, and representatives from the foreign companies have frequently visited the Mingachevir site. Currently, personnel training for operating turbines, generators, and automated systems is ongoing.
