In the first quarter of 2025, China reduced oil imports from Russia by 14.7% year-on-year, totaling 24.315 million tons, according to the General Administration of Customs of the People's Republic of China, Report informs.
The value of these imports during the three-month period amounted to $13 billion, marking a 22% drop compared to January-March 2024.
Despite the decline in volume, Russia retained its position as China's largest oil supplier.
Notably, oil accounted for over 40% of the total value of China's imports from Russia during this period.
March saw a notable increase, with oil supplies rising 14% from February to reach 8.85 million tons. In monetary terms, China spent $4.6 billion on Russian oil in March, reflecting a 9% month-on-month increase.
