Energy Minister of the Canadian province of Alberta, Sonya Savage, and region's Prime Minister Jayson Kenney have offered oil supplies to the United States amid the suspended possibilities of exporting this product from Russia due to the situation around Ukraine, Report informs, citing TASS.
"US now looking to replace Russian barrels with Venezuelan? You can’t make this stuff up - desperate times require desperate measures. A reminder of the folly of energy policy over the past decade. Canada, with the 3rd largest reserves, could have supplied the US and the world," Savage said on Twitter.
Alberta's Prime Minister asks 'what is going on with US energy policy?' According to him, the US may replace Russian oil imports by lifting sanctions on oil from the Iranian and Venezuelan dictatorships.
"Alberta would be delighted to welcome such a visit from President Biden. We could discuss how to ship nearly 1 million barrels of day of responsibly produced energy every day from the USA’s closest friend and ally!" Kenney tweeted.
He added that all it would take is Biden's approval for Keystone XL.
