Azerbaijan's Azenco OJSC has secured a contract to modernize and reconstruct three electric substations in Uzbekistan's regions, Report informs, citing Uzbekistan's Energy Ministry.

According to a statement from Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy, Azenco won international tenders for the modernization and reconstruction of three 110-kilovolt substations: 2A in Fergana, Khazarasp in Khorezm, and Chinoz in Tashkent regions. The procurement contract was officially signed on July 19, setting the stage for a transformative project.

As a result of the work to be carried out, approximately 100 MVA (megavolt-amperes) of additional power capacity will be created. This substantial increase is expected to significantly enhance the reliability of energy supply for both residents and industrial enterprises in the aforementioned regions.

This project is part of a larger initiative titled "Transformation of the Electricity Sector and Sustainable Transmission of Electricity," implemented by National Electric Networks of Uzbekistan JSC with the participation of the World Bank.

The project aims to modernize and reconstruct a total of 22 substations (110-500 kV) across Uzbekistan.

Azenco OJSC was founded in 2002. Its authorized capital is 6.837 million manats ($4.021 million). Some 97.6% of its shares belong to Interenerji LLC, while the remaining 2.4% are owned by individuals.
