Azerbaijan, UAE company sign agreement for smart gas network

On July 17, the Azerigaz Production Union of the Azerbaijan State Oil Company (SOCAR) and the United Arab Emirates' Esyasoft Holding signed an agreement on the design, installation, and commissioning of a smart gas network, Report informs, citing the SOCAR.

According to the SOCAR, the main goal of the project is to increase operational efficiency in gas distribution across Azerbaijan, optimize costs, reduce existing gas losses, as well as improve customer satisfaction with the services provided by Azerigaz through the application of advanced smart gas management system technologies.

The project will cover approximately a 14-year period, including the installation of 2.5 million smart meters and system support phases.

During this period, an investment of $480 million is planned. This investment will enable the digitalization of the network in the near future, installation of smart pressure and temperature sensors, creation of a Digital Solutions Laboratory, training of employees on advanced technologies and organization of international experience exchange, implementation of artificial intelligence, ensuring information security by storing data in the Government cloud, as well as establishing a management center equipped with modern technologies.

Consumers will gain benefits such as more accurate billing, real-time usage monitoring, rapid problem resolution, remote service, and easy access to consumption data through digital platforms.

This agreement, which is a continuation of the cooperation agreement signed between SOCAR and Esyasoft Holding during COP29 in Baku, was signed by SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf, Azerigaz General Director Azer Mammadov, and Esyasoft Holding CEO Bipin Chandra.
