Azerbaijan sharply increases profits from nitrogen fertilizer exports

In January-March 2022, Azerbaijan exported 79,857.31 tons of nitrogen fertilizers for $53.199 million, up 7.4-fold and 30.8 times from the previous year, Report informs, citing the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.
In the reporting period, nitrogen fertilizer accounted for 7.32% of exports in the non-oil sector and 0.67% of total exports.
Nitrogen fertilizer is produced at the SOCAR Carbamide Plant in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park. The plant was commissioned on January 16, 2019, and has the capacity to produce up to 660,000 tons of urea per year using 435 million cubic meters of natural gas as raw material. Seventy percent of the output is intended for export.
