Azerbaijan sees nearly 9% growth in solar power production

Solar power production rose by 8.8% to 65.6 million kWh in 2023, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

The output in the sector of electric power, gas, and steam production, distribution, and supply amounted to 3.065 billion ($1.8 billion) in the reporting period, up 0.6% from a year earlier.

Production in the water supply, waste treatment, and processing sector has risen by 15.5%, settling at 585.6 million manats ($344.47 million).

Azerbaijan produced 27,561.5 million kWh of electricity in the reporting period, up 1% from the previous year. Of this, 26,636.1 million kWh were commercial electricity, 0.7% more than the last year.

The hydropower plants produced 1,697.8 million kWh of electricity, 8.7% more than a year ago.

The thermal power plants generated 24,816.7 million kWh of energy, up 0.3% from a year earlier.

Wind power production decreased by 32.3% to 56 million kWh.
