Azerbaijan's methanol production down 36%

Azerbaijan produced 122,100 tons (-36.2%) of methanol (methyl alcohol), in January-April of this year. Report informs, citing the State Statistics Committee.
As of May 1 this year, the finished product output amounted to 12,400 tons.
Methanol production is carried out at the Methanol Plant of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in the Garadagh district.
The methanol plant was commissioned in 2013. The plant has been operating under SOCAR Methanol LLC, a subsidiary of SOCAR, since 2016, and in August 2017 became the property of the company. The plant has the capacity to produce 650,000-700,000 tons of methanol per year. Natural gas and saltwater are used as raw materials in production.
