Azerbaijan’s gas supplies to Türkiye rise by almost 2%

In January-May 2025, just over 4.772 billion cubic meters of natural gas were exported from Azerbaijan to Türkiye, marking a 1.9% year-on-year increase, according to the Turkish Energy Market Regulatory Authority (EMRA), Report informs.

Of the total volume, more than 4.598 billion cubic meters were delivered under long-term agreements, while 173.65 million cubic meters were supplied through spot market transactions.

In May 2025 alone, nearly 1.057 billion cubic meters of natural gas were exported from Azerbaijan to Türkiye, which is 4.8% more than in the same month of 2024. Of that, 989.06 million cubic meters were delivered under long-term agreements, while 67.93 million cubic meters were supplied through spot market transactions.

Thus, in May, Azerbaijan became the second country exporting natural gas to Türkiye. Azerbaijan accounted for 29.8% of total natural gas imported to Türkiye.

Meanwhile, in May 2024, Azerbaijan exported just over 1.008 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Türkiye.

Overall, Türkiye imported over 3.539 billion cubic meters of natural gas in May, which is 22.79% more than in the same period of 2024.

During this period, Russia took the first place in terms of gas exports to Türkiye. So, 1.192 billion cubic meters of natural gas were exported from Russia to Türkiye, 62.38% less year-on-year.

Also, Iran took third place in Türkiye’s natural gas imports in May 2025. This country transported 791.74 billion cubic meters of gas to Türkiye that month. Compared to May 2024, gas transport from Iran to Türkiye increased by 33.4% times.
