Azerbaijan’s gas exports to Italy: Volume grows, value shrinks

Azerbaijan exported more than 4.129 billion cubic meters of natural gas, valued at almost $1.683 to Italy in the first five months of 2024, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee of Azerbaijan.

Compared to the corresponding period in 2023, the exports grew by 24.4 percent in volume, while dropping by 2.7 times in value.

During January-May of this year, Italy was the leader among the countries receiving Azerbaijani gas. Thus, 41.65% of the total gas export from Azerbaijan went to this country.

In total, Azerbaijan exported more than 9.912 billion cubic meters of natural gas worth just over $3.451 billion in the initial five months of 2024, marking a 5.9 percent increase in volume, and a 51.4 percent decline in value year-on-year.

Azerbaijani gas was exported to six countries, including Italy, Bulgaria, Greece, Serbia, Türkiye, and Georgia.
