Azerbaijan nearly quadruples solar power production

Solar power production rose by 3.6 times to 29.4 million kWh in January-February 2024, compared to the same period of 2023, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.
The output in the sector of electric power, gas, and steam production, distribution, and supply amounted to 587.5 million ($345.48 million) in the reporting period, down 7.9% from a year earlier.
Production in the water supply, waste treatment, and processing sector has risen by 22.7%, settling at 86.5 million manats ($50.86 million).
Azerbaijan produced 4,378.7 million kWh of electricity in the reporting period, down 10.1% from the previous year. Of this, 4,229.8 million kWh were commercial electricity, 10.6% less than the last year.
The thermal power plants generated 3,928.3 million kWh of energy, down 14.6% from a year earlier.
The hydropower plants produced 262.7 million kWh of electricity, 2.3 times more than a year ago.
Wind power production increased by 5.6% to 9.4 million kWh.
