Azerbaijan increases solar power production by over 15%

The production in the sector of electric power, gas and steam production, distribution, and supply amounted to 2,077.2 million ($1.22 billion) in January-September 2022, up 3.8% from a year earlier, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

The production in the water supply, waste treatment, and processing sector has risen by 5.5%, settling at 362.5 million manats ($213.24 million).

Azerbaijan produced 20.251 billion kWh of electric power in the reporting period, up 4.8% from the previous year. Of this, 19,578.3 million kWh were commercial electricity, which is 4.5% more than the last year.

The hydropower plants produced 1,375.9 million kWh of electricity, 38% higher than a year ago.

Heating power stations produced 18,120.2 million kWh of energy, 2.8% more than in 2021.

Wind power production fell 50.2% to 32.7 million kWh, and solar power production went up by 15.4% to 49.5 million kWh.
