Azerbaijan increases solar power production by 16%

The production in the sector of electric power, gas and steam production, distribution, and supply amounted to 1.857 billion ($1.092 billion) in January-August 2022, up 2.4% from a year earlier, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

The production in the water supply, waste treatment, and processing sector has risen by 5.1%, settling at 315.1 million manats ($185.3 million).

Azerbaijan produced 17,976 million kWh of electric power in the reporting period, up 2.9% from the previous year. Of this, 17 billion 384 million kWh were commercial electricity, which is 2.7% more than the last year.

The hydropower plants produced 1,291 million kWh of electricity, 36.9% higher than a year ago.

Heating power stations produced 16,025 million kWh of energy, 0.8% more than in 2021.

Wind power production fell 56.3% to 25 million kWh, and solar power production went up by 16% to 43.4 million kWh.
