Azerbaijan increases revenues from polypropylene exports by over 77%

In October 2021, Azerbaijan exported polypropylene in primary forms worth USD 9.5 million, up 6.8-fold or $8.4 million from the previous year, Report informs, citing the Export Review of the Azerbaijani Center for Economic Reforms Analysis and Communication.

In January-October 2021, Azerbaijan exported polypropylene in primary forms worth $96.4 million, $41.9 million or 76.9% more than the previous year.

The SOCAR Polymer project includes polypropylene plants with an annual capacity of 184,000 tons and high-density polyethylene plants with a yearly capacity of 120,000 tons. The polypropylene plant was commissioned on July 18, 2018, with the participation of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Italian President Sergio Mattarella. Export of polypropylene started on October 5.
