Azerbaijan increases profits from nitrogen fertilizer exports

In January 2022, Azerbaijan exported 21,199 tons of nitrogen fertilizers for $14.645 million, Report informs, citing the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.
According to the committee, these figures are 3.4 times and 14.7 times more than in January 2021, respectively.
In January 2022, nitrogen fertilizer accounted for 6.31% of exports in the non-oil sector and 0.47% of total exports.
Nitrogen fertilizer is produced at the SOCAR Carbamide Plant in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park. The plant was commissioned on January 16, 2019, and has the capacity to produce up to 660,000 tons of urea per year using 435 million cubic meters of natural gas as raw material. Seventy percent of the output is intended for export.
