Azerbaijan increases methanol production by over 81%

In January-August 2022, Azerbaijan produced 357,500 tons of methanol (methyl alcohol), 81.3% more year-on-year, Report informs, citing the State Statistical Committee.

As of September 1, 2022, the finished products made up 38,600 tons.

Methanol production is carried out at the Methanol Plant of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in the Garadagh district.

The Methanol Plant was commissioned in 2013. Since 2016, the plant has been operating under the management of SOCAR Methanol LLC, a subsidiary of SOCAR, and since August 2017, it has been owned by the company. The enterprise has the capacity to produce up to 700,000 tons of methanol per year. Natural gas and salted water are used as raw materials.
