Azerbaijan discloses volume of methanol production in Jan.-Apr.

In January-April 2025, 143,600 tons of methanol (methyl alcohol) were produced in Azerbaijan, Report informs, citing the country's State Statistics Committee.

This amount is 8.5% less compared to the first 4 months of 2024.

As of May 1, 2025, there was a finished product remainder of 42,300 tons.

Methanol is produced at the Methanol Plant of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) in the Garadagh district of Baku. The plant, which was commissioned in 2013, has been operating under the management of SOCAR's subsidiary - SOCAR Methanol LLC since 2016, and since August 2017, it has been transferred to the company's ownership. The enterprise has the capacity to produce 650,000-700,000 tons of methanol annually. Natural gas and desalinated water are used as raw materials in production.
