Legislation in the field of renewable energy in Azerbaijan is being aligned with European legislation, Rana Humbatova, head of the Hydrogen and Green Technologies Department of the Azerbaijan Renewable Energy Agency (AREA) under the Ministry of Energy, said at the GSMA M360 Eurasia 2024 international conference held in Baku, Report informs.
According to her, about 100 projects have been implemented in the field of renewable energy.
"Azerbaijan is working to improve legislation in the field of green energy. As we know, Azerbaijan is committed to reduce carbon emissions by 35% by 2030, and by 40% by 2050. Our country aims to create a zero emission zone in the territories freed from occupation," Humbatova said.
The official stated that there is a great potential in the field of renewable energy in the territories freed from occupation, and pointed out that the creation of small hydroelectric power plants is very effective here.
