Saudi company ACWA Power plans to desalinate 300,000 cubic meters of seawater daily in Azerbaijan, according to Report's correspondent from Khizi.

Selim Guven, ACWA Power's Director for Azerbaijan and Türkiye, stated that 70% of Azerbaijan's water resources originate outside the country, making seawater desalination particularly important.

Guven emphasized that this project will ensure Azerbaijan's water security and contribute to meeting Baku's water needs. "We plan to complete the construction work for the seawater desalination project within 2.5 years," he added.

ACWA Power, in collaboration with Turkish company IC İçtaş İnşaat, plans to implement a project to construct a seawater desalination plant for drinking water production in Azerbaijan. The plant, with a daily capacity of 300,000 m³ of water, will be built in the Sumgayit Chemical Industrial Park. The consortium will make the necessary investments, and according to the agreement, the project is designed for 27.5 years, after which the plant's management will be transferred to the State Agency of Water Resources of Azerbaijan.
