Times Higher Education Impact 2025 rankings include 28 Azerbaijani universities for first time

For the first time, 28 Azerbaijani universities are included in the Times Higher Education Impact 2025 ranking, the Ministry of Science and Education told Report.

The ministry noted that this ranking evaluates the activities of universities in 18 ranking tables, including 17 areas and a general ranking based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

This year, the number of Azerbaijani universities included in this ranking increased from 18 to 28, which is a 1.5-fold increase compared to last year. Of these 28 universities, 25 are included in the general ranking table. The number of universities included in the ranking is about 60% of the higher education institutions operating in the country.

For comparison, in the South Caucasus and Central Asia, this figure fluctuates on average between 5-35%. In this context, Azerbaijan's result is particularly noteworthy in both the regional and international contexts. Baku State University and Khazar University showed the highest result in the country in the overall ranking, ranking in the 401-600 range.

Azerbaijan State University of Economics and Baku Higher Oil School rank second in the country in the overall ranking (801-1000 range).

Overall, Azerbaijan maintains its position as a regional leader in this ranking for five SDGs. Especially in the areas of SDG 1 - No Poverty and SDG 10 - Reduced Inequality, Azerbaijani universities entered the TOP-60 in the world.
