Second lunar eclipse of 2026 expected on August 28

The second lunar eclipse of the year will occur on August 28, Report informs, citing the Astrophysics Department of the Faculty of Physics at Baku State University.

According to the department, the Moon will pass through only part of Earth's shadow this time, resulting in a partial lunar eclipse.

Part of the Moon will darken while the rest will remain illuminated. The penumbral eclipse will begin at 05:23:55 am local time (GMT+4), followed by the partial eclipse at 06:33:48 am. The eclipse will reach its maximum at 08:12:53 am.

The partial eclipse will end at 09:51:55 am, while the penumbral eclipse will conclude at 11:01:41 am.

The eclipse will be visible from Europe, Africa, Asia and the Americas. From Azerbaijan, only part of the penumbral eclipse will be observable from 05:23 am to 05:55 am, until the Moon sets.
