Technological progress, including the development of artificial intelligence, is accelerating demographic changes and social transformation, Salim M. Al-Malik, Director-General (DG) of the Islamic World Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (ICESCO), said at the event "Anticipating Tomorrow: A Strategic Foresight" roundtable held at ADA University, Report informs.
"The transformation taking place now is on such a scale that the progress achieved in the XXI century alone will be equal to the progress achieved in 40 thousand years. On November 15, 2021, an important milestone was reached when the world population officially exceeded 8 billion," he stressed.
According to him, this demographic shift creates opportunities for economic growth and innovation:
"However, while we recognize this, we ignore important factors such as employment and social inclusion."
