The well-known German publication Samstagszeitung wrote an article about Lev Landau, a scientist who made a fundamental scientific contribution to many areas of theoretical physics, Report informs.
The article about the private, non-profit and free IT school Ecole 42 talks about the scientific achievements of Lev Landau, who introduced the concept of density matrix into quantum mechanics, created the quantum theory of electron diamagnetism, built the theory of phase transitions of the second kind, the theory of intermediate states of superconductors.
Headlined "Lev Landau in Vienna and Ecole 42", the article states that Ecole 42 was founded by the French entrepreneur Xavier Niel, the model of the school was adopted in Paris, Lyon (France), Fremont (California), Romania, South Africa, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Moldova , Belgium, Russia, Morocco and Finland.
It is reported that anyone over the age of 18 can enroll in the school, the selection process includes primarily tests for attention and logic, as well as identifying abilities to learn programming.
"The principle of studying at school is nothing new. Lev Landau from Baku introduced this principle into physics about 100 years ago. Landau was a child prodigy and a Nobel Prize winner in physics. He began studying physics at the university at the age of 14. Landau believed that everyone can study physics if he has a certain "minimum". From the school of Lev Landau came out a huge number of outstanding, famous mathematicians and physicists. To this end, Landau has developed a special admission procedure that imposes appropriate requirements on candidates," the publication notes.
