Director of the Irpin Humanitarian Lyceum of Foreign Languages named after Academician Zarifa Aliyeva (Ukraine) Valentina Antonenko, a group of students of the lyceum, as well as deputy director of the Baku Lyceum named after Academician Zarifa Aliyeva Aynur Huseynova have visited Azerbaijan's Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Report informs.
As part of the visit, the guests laid flowers at the monument of national leader Heydar Aliyev on the main square of the city of Nakhchivan.
Then, in the Heydar Aliyev Museum, they got acquainted with the exhibits telling about the life and state activities of the great leader.
The guests also visited the secondary school named after Academician Zarifa Aliyeva in the village of Shakhtakhti, Kangarli district. After a tour of the Memorial Museum, the delegation inspected the classrooms.
During a meeting with the school's teaching staff, Valentina Antonenko emphasized that the educational institution she heads has been named after Academician Zarifa Aliyeva for about 20 years.
Her bust has been installed in the lyceum, and a museum dedicated to her life and scientific work has been opened, Antonenko noted.
She also noted that the street on which the lyceum is located is also named after Zarifa khanum.
According to her, today 2,500 students study at the lyceum, and in recent years, teaching in the Azerbaijani language has also begun there.
Antonenko noted that the lyceum in Irpin has become a symbol of friendship between Azerbaijan and Ukraine.
The educational institution, damaged as a result of military actions, was promptly restored with the support of SOCAR Energy Ukraine on behalf of the president of Azerbaijan.
The guest expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for the assistance provided, and also noted close cooperation with the eponymous lyceum in Baku.
At the end of the meeting, a video about the Humanitarian Lyceum of Foreign Languages named after Zarifa Aliyeva in Irpin was shown.
Also, during the visit, the delegation got acquainted with the activities of the Children's and Youth Creativity Center named after Heydar Aliyev and the gymnasium with in-depth study of the English language at Nakhchivan State University.
