Education Ministry proposes to increase education duration in Azerbaijan Jasarat Valehov: We fall behind at least 3-4 weeks from developed countries

Baku. 24 May. REPORT.AZ/ The Ministry of Education has proposed to increase education duration.

Report informs, the ministry's spokesman Jasarat Valehov said.

He noted that in recent days, media and social networks discuss start of academic year in Azerbaijan on September 1 and completion on May 25.

The ministry's official added that two years ago, the Cabinet of Ministers has decided to extend education duration for two weeks: "The main aim was to be in compliance with the developed countries in number of academic weeks (38-40 weeks, respectively), in which we fall behind (previously 32 academic weeks, currently 34). Because you should learn more to become talented. Despite we have increased education period two weeks, it seems to be less by at least 3-4 weeks from the developed countries. May be we can fill this gap by starting academic year on September 1 and completing on June 14? What do you think? Should we start discussions in this regard? Let's name it we want to learn 2 weeks more".
