Azerbaijan's initiative to measure students' climate literacy worldwide gains support at COP29

Azerbaijan's proposal to measure climate literacy through the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) has received widespread support within the framework of COP29, Report informs.

Azerbaijan’s Education and Science Ministry and the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) have signed a collaborative agreement to assess students' climate literacy within the PISA framework.

The agreement was inked by Emin Amrullayev, Minister of Education and Science, and Andreas Schleicher, OECD Director for Education and Skills, during a high-level panel session titled "Measuring Environmental Literacy in the International Assessment Framework".

Under this agreement, a framework document and learning materials will be developed for evaluating students' climate literacy worldwide as part of the next PISA study in 2029.

This initiative, spearheaded by Azerbaijan, is seen as a crucial step towards integrating climate literacy into global education efforts, aligning with the outcomes of COP29.
