Holding the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29) in Baku means great opportunities in the combat against climate change, and we are always ready to participate in such events that bring peace to the region, Ambassador David Fernandez Puyana, head of the Permanent Observer Mission of the UN Peace University in Geneva, told the Ankara bureau of Report.
Sharing his views on COP29, which will be held in Baku in November of this year, the ambassador said that he has participated in other countries where the session has been held so far: "Last year, COP28 was held in Dubai. I consider it a special day focused on the relationship between climate change and health, war and peace, and the needs of people most vulnerable to conflict, droughts, and floods. In particular, the water crisis is a common problem for all people. We are working with a number of organizations on this issue, and we want to put it on the agenda of COP29."
The ambassador praised Azerbaijan for leading such an event: "Azerbaijan has a very strong organizational experience. We have participated in many dialogues in the Baku process conducted by Mr. Ilham Aliyev.”
